Public Web Browser version 3

Post by Scott »

Public Web Browser version 3 is currently under development. This version is being developed from the ground up and will include tabbed browsing. Because we are using IE 7 as the base, this will require Windows XP or newer to run.

You current PWB v2 site license will work with PWB v3, and allow you to upgrade to PWB v3 when available at no extra cost.

We hope to be in public beta testing before the end of 2009, however we are not setting any firm dates at this point in time.

Please post any wishes, questions, or comments, about PWB v3 here.

Thank you,

Any Update?

Hey Scott,
How is it going with PWB v3? Just inquiring. Will it incorporate a feature that slaps patrons silly when they go to pr0n sites?

Just wondering if there are any updates on when the beta for v3 will be available?

Also if not currently at public beta stage yet is there a way to be able to help test a private beta version?

Thanks in advance for any additional information you can give.

Rick

We had a set back that needed to be fixed in PWB v2 before proceeding with the more complex PWB v3, but this is fixed now and we are moving forward.

You may also want to check out ChomeMoly currently available on our Beta test page. ChromeMoly is the complete Chromium web browser with an added DLL that makes it more PWB like.

Is that Chrome version what version 3 will be? Or just an extra option? And will it be a 2nd version that is updated along with the main version?

I know you guys were talking about switching rendering engines in that sticky so just wondering if this is that switch.

Thanks

We were actually looking at the Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF). Just like IE, what ever version of CEF you had installed PWB uses.

However we will be staying with IE for PWB v3.

We started another project using the Chromium web browser called ChromeMoly. Please use the ChromeMoly forum for questions on this project.

Any updates regarding Public Web Browser v3?

Hi Scott,

I was just wondering if you have any updates to PWB v3. I read the announcement that it will be put on hold, due to the chrome moly. I know patrons would really like to have the tabbed browsing.

Sorry it is still on hold. We hope to resume development in the 1st quarter of 2011.

As promised we are working on the new version again. It will just be awhile before we get to the point when we are ready to start beta testing it.

But it is looking good so far.

The PWB v3 alpha base browser has been posted to the Beta Downloads page if you want to take a look at the early version of PWB v3 base browser.
