Novelist & White list
Hello everyone; We are using PWB w/a whitelist to limit patrons to catalog and subscription database use. Just recently I noticed that Novelist (http://web.ebscohost.com/novelist/) is no longer working. It allows the user to navigate to the Novelist homepage, but then will not allow a search to be e...

Hi Scott! Yes, it's being started in the start up folder. I did the following: made the public user an administrator (these are xps) logged on as public went to Control panel/startup/classic/customize browsed to C:\PWB\pwb.exe and placed the shortcut in the startup folder. I have the two machines si...

PWB in startup
hello! PWB has been working so fine for us for so long, that I fear I have forgotten something totally obvious. Perhaps someone can put me back on the road to righteousness. We have 2 identical PCs upon which we only allow access to our catalog and subscription databases. PWB is running on an ini fi...

https and a whitelist
Hi: We are using PWB on our catalog PCs. We also have Fortres on these machines, but I don't think that's the culprit here. We use a white list to limit patons to our catalog and databases (no internet surfing, no e-mail). Where we encounter a problem is when a patron tries to log into their library...

We have a server and use group policies to pretty well protect C:\ and the network. Tdownload manages the saving of web pages beautifully. The one remaining problem we have is that when one is in our online catalog, or searching our databases, when one tries to use the save feature, the very first p...

ManageDL and PWBmanageDL
Hi;
Can you answer a couple of questions about ManageDL and PWBmanageDL?
1. Would you recommend the use of one over the other?
2. Can it be set so that the default download directory is either A:\ or E:\?
thanks!

Excellant!
ManageIE is now accomplishing exactly what I'd hoped it would! Thanks Scott! Now, however as a result of my blind flailings to stop IE from opening, I have setPWB to run in the network admini account. Now that ManageIE is doing the trick, I don't think I will need setPWB at all. How can I uninstall ...

manageIE and setpwb
Hi I have been reading the posts on blocking access to IE through other applications, in our case, it's Word. Patrons can click on a link in a Word doc and open IE. We, too would prefer PWB open. I have downloaded ManageIE from the beta directory and SetPWB from the Downloads directory. I have unzip...

Saving
Hi Scott; We are using a combination of Fortres and Group Policies to restrict saving to A:\ and E:\ PWB is accessed through a shortcut on the desktop. Saving while in any of the Office applications works exactly as we'd like. Saving while in PWB has given us some problems and I suspect that PWB is ...

PWB on server opens s-l-o-w-l-y
Hi!
I am trying to set up PWB to run as the browser on our internet PCs. Everything seems to be running okay except for the fact that PWB is taking an awfully long time to load. We have both the EXE and INI files living on our server. Could that be the problem? thanks!

Kiosk mode/start button
Hi: We are using PWB in kiosk mode (w/Fortres), we just noticed that when attempting to save documents to A: or E: (which we are controlling through the use of GP) the Start button reappears while in the File Download Box, just after hitting the Save button. After making your selection, the Start bu...
