HideGUI with PWB as shell

Post by joechummer »

Is there a way to have HideGUI automatically launch when PWBv2 is set as the shell?

HideGUI will not launch even when set to run from the registry if I log in as a user that has PWB set as the shell. It seems that HideGUI requires Explorer to be running in order to launch, because if I manually start Explorer from Task Manager and HideGUI is set in my registry to run, then HideGUI will launch automatically as soon as Explorer opens. However, I cannot seem to get Explorer to launch from either the registry or from a batch file.

Are there any ways to get around this?

When running any application as the Windows shell, the "Run" key in the Registry will not be executed because this is a function of the shell.

You can start HideGUI from a batch file when PWB starts by using the following PWB INI setting.

[Files]
StartupScript=

However, instead of running PWB as the Windows shell, unless you are using a Terminal Server, it is better to run Explorer as the shell and use HideGUI to disable the Windows Interface.
