PWB crashes when using Real Player

Post by jkowal5 »

Is anyone else having a problem with this? It took us a while to figure out a common denominator for PWB crashing intermittantly and it seems like the times it usually does it is when a patron is trying to open up a file that uses Real Player. Is there a trick to fixing this, or is it just us? Thanks in advance!

This is the first this problem has been reported. If we can succesfully recreate the problem we should be able to get it fixed.

What version of PWB are you using?

What version of Internet Explorer is installed on the computer?

What version of Windows is installed on the computer?

Do you have a specific URL that will cause this problem to happen?

Real Player

Post by jkowal5 »

We are using PWB version 2.08, although I did test it with the beta 2.09 to see if that would help. It is on Windows XP Professional computers with IE 6 with all of the updates. I was able to make it crash immediately by going to Amazon.com, selecting a music CD, and then trying to listen to the clip by clicking on Real Player. I got an error message reading: PWB MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Please let me know if there's any other information you need to work on this. Thanks!

Using a stock PWB INI file Real Player seems to function properly.

The Real Player files is a download, do you have the Downloads disabled in the INI file?

Do you get the error if you disable the URL or IP filter?

IE too

Well, I found out that IE was crashing in Real Player too. So when I updated Real Player, the problem stopped. I think it has been resolved! Thanks for getting back to me.
