Hi,
I was just wondering how long it should take for a new window to open?
I realize that with every new window, both the URL and POPUP files are scanned, and the larger these files are, the longer that will take.
As an example, we are running mainly P3's around 500mhz (upgrades in the next year), a 6k PopUp file, and a 4k URL file. Sometimes it can take close to ten seconds for a new window to open (for example, when shift-clicking). We are running the PWB executable and all corresponding files off of a shared drive.
Do these numbers sound accurate, or do we have some other problems here?
As an aside, PWB caught 216 pop-up windows in the past week alone
How long should it take for new windows to open?

The performance can be impacted by a networked history file while trying to write the history file. If you are using the filter files ( POPUP.TXT, URL.TXT, ... ) from a network location, PWB performance can be affected by network traffic while trying to parse the files. Since the time to write is much greater then the time to read, the history file can have a greater impact on performance then the filter files.
To maximize performance:
Use a local copies of the filter files if possible.
Use a local copy of the history file.
Do not use a history file.
Do not use the tracking feature of a shared history file.
Do not use the log access feature of a shared history file.
