We are trying to use PWB in kiosk mode to limit patrons to catalog/database access and have been pretty successful. However, one of the databases - Gale Academic ASAP is presenting a problem. The title list in this database is not a text file like other Gale databases, it's a redirected webpage which goes to Gale's website. If I do not allow access to www.Gale.com, PWB crashes. No idea why this is happening. I don't have a problem with crazed library patrons cruising the entirety of the Gale website, but it isn't strictly speaking a catalog/database use and would rather limit folks to just the title list, but because the link is actually a redirect, it doesn't seem to want to allow that. The crashing if I block access when patrons click on the title list link is troublesome, however.
any thoughts?

PWB and Gale databases

Well, it might be tricky for you to recreate as it is a licensed database and one needs a library card number to access. If you'd like me to send you a "guest pass" number, please reply to me off forum (sraymond@minlib.net) and I'll send one directly to you. Here's the sequence....
go to
http://www.mmrls.org/homeaccess.html
and type in the guest pass number
Click on
Expanded Academic ASAP Plus
proceed
the click on the Title List hyperlink.
If I put in
+www.gale.com
in the access list, it works, though allowing patrons to wander the entrie Gale site.
if I do not put that in or just put in
+www.gale.com/Title_lists/
it crashes with a PWB MFC application error message.
thanks Scott!
