PDFs won't open in PWB

Post by amutch »

I recently upgraded our public computers to IE 11. When users try to open a PDF in PWB, they are seeing a small black box with an X in the upper left hand corner of the browser window. When I do the same with IE, the PDF opens in the browser window.

PWB - 2.11.9
Internet Explorer 11 - 64 bit version
Adobe Acrobat Reader 11.0.06 - 32 bit version
Windows 7 with SP1 - 64 bit version

Thanks!

Are you using PWB 64 bit by chance?

The 64 bit version of PWB uses the 64 bit version of Internet Explorer which is not compatible with some Internet Explorer plug-ins such as Acrobat.

I'm pretty sure that we have the 32 bit version installed. I'll check and confirm.

Guess I was wrong - we have the 64 bit version installed. I must have decided to go with the 64 bit version of PWB when I upgraded to the 64 bit version of Windows 7. Can I just copy over the 32 bit version of the EXE? I did test it with the 32 bit version and the same PDFs that didn't open in the 64 bit version opened in the 32 bit version.

You can just copy the 32 bit version over the 64 bit version without issue.

Scott,

That's what I did and the PDFs now open properly in PWB.

Thanks!
