The only downside is that NT does not use the NoViewOnDrive registry setting, so that - even if you enable the NoDrives tweak - a patron can simply type in "C:\" and viola, they're browsing the hard drive, whether it shows up in the drop-down list or not.
With XP (and possibly 2k?) You can restrict a public user from having access to a drive, period. They can still use programs etc. on those drives, but they cannot open folders or browse for files on them.

The restrict drives through the MMC does work for Windows 2000.
This is one of the ways we secured our termnal server. We also hid the system drive and moved the profiles to the "D" drive. If the patron is unable to see or touch the system drive they can not break it. That is the theory any way. So far it has proven to be true.
