I'm trying to make PWB our default browser. I've downloaded "SetPWB". When I run it and browse to the path, I receive the message "Could not open HKEY_CURRENT_USER:http". I ok that message and the next message is "There were problems opening registry keys. You should be logged on as an Administrator to use this application".

I am logged in as an administrator already. I have also downloaded ManageIE and that working in that it closes IE when it is opened.

I'm still new to PWB, so I'm hoping this is something I'm overlooking. We're using version 3.0.2.0 on XP SP3.

Thanks,
Tammy

If you are using Windows 7 you may need to run SetPWB as Administrator by right clicking on it select "Run as Administrator".

If you are using ManageIE, set the following and it will open PWB.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TeamSoftware Solutions\ManageIE]
"OpenPWBToURL"=dword:00000000

If the SetPWB utility is not working on your computer, you could also try a different utility.

The new version of SETPWB isn't working.

I'm logged in as a Domain Administrator and I get the same message.
"Could not open HKEY_CURRENT_USER:http"
"There were problems opening registry keys.
You should be logged on as an Administrator to use this application."

Right clicking on the app and choosing "Run as Administrator" results in the same error.

We just posted SetPWB for Windows Vista or newer to the Beta Downloads page. This new version of SetPWB uses Application Association Registration API to register PWB with the Set Default Programs Control Panel applet to make PWB the default web browser.
