TMail and Windows 7

Post by mcspoo »

Is there any known means of making Tmail the default Mail Client on Windows 7? This would be especially useful for a public access workstation, in order handle "mailto:" requests in PWB, MSIE 9 or 10...

Use the Default Programs in the Control Panel.

Thanks for responding, Scott. However, the issue here is obvious: TMail does not show up in the list of Default programs, so there is no means to set it as the default program for anything.

Theres' a tool mentioned in the link you provided (Default Programs Editor), but it too does NOT create a mailto section to assign a default program to.

TMail is the best "send only" email program I've ever found, and I would enjoy continuing to be able to use it for our patrons, but if I cannot find a means to set the mailto default, I'll have to leave it blank...

I believe you can edit the registry directly for the "mailto" protocol.

Here is an example for the "alert" protocol.

Substitute "mailto" for "alert".
