Bypassing PWB thru Internet Explorer via Go To option

Post by sheres »

We have PWB installed on our Lan machines and are using group policies to manage the security for them. Everything is pretty well locked down. The iexplore.exe file is denied read/execute privileges for the user while these computers are on. We also have shortcuts to the floppy and cd-rom drive on the desktop. This has worked quite well, but recently we have discovered that you can access Internet Explorer through the explorer.exe application that is opened when you view a floppy or cd by selecting the "Go To" -> "Home Page" option from the View menu. We haven't been able to track down a group policy that allows you to disable this menu and it gives complete access to the equivalent of the iexplore.exe application. Any ideas on how to disable this option?

If you want to prevent IE from opening to a web site, use the free ManageIE BHO available on the TSS download page.
