Windows XP SP2 Security

Post by Scott »

It is possible to have PWB opt into the Windows XP SP2 security features added to Internet Explorer such as the pop-up blocker. The following utility will make the required registry changes to enable the security features for PWB.

See the following MS Web site for more information on what can be opted into.

Does this work with PWB 2.04, or only with 2.06?

Thanks,

Hi Scott!

I was wondering, after opting into XP SP2's pop-up blocking, what happens with the built-in pop-up blocking? For instance, does the behavior of the pop-up blocking toggle button change after you've opted in? Will it just do nothing, or will it affect XP's built-in blocking? Thanks!

The PWB pop-up filter and the pop-up button work independently of the Windows XP SP2 pop-up blocker. The Windows XP SP2 pop-up blocker does take precedence over the PWB pop-up filter and pop-up button.

If you opt into the Windows XP SP2 pop-up blocker, the SP2 blocker will examine the pop-up window first then pass it onto PWB if it is allowed in the SP2 blocker, then PWB will decide if it should be shown or not.
