PWB Not Responding when loading our Catalog page

Post by Jaysun »

I have tried both PWB 2.0.5 and the most recent version of 2.0.8 and they both have this problem. I have set up a computer that will only be used to access our library catalog.

I have PWB set to exit after 3 minutes of activity and have it set to reopen after it is exited. Most of the time PWB closes, opens and loads our catalog page without any problems. But sometimes (about once a day) upon reopening, PWB gets stuck as Not Responding.

The page that PWB is loading is: http://140.211.82.133/Polaris/Search/Po ... ageid=1033

The computer is running Windows XP SP2 and McAfee Enterprise Anti-virus.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jason

Jason,

Try setting the following in your INI file to see if it clears up the problem.

[Security]
...
ClearCacheOnHome=False
ClearCacheOnClose=False
...

The problem may be caused by PWB trying to restart when it is still clearing the cache files. We are taking steps in PWB v2.08.1 to avoid this potential problem.

I have changed both of those settings in the ini, but PWB will still open up and get stuck not resonding. Generally when this happens "Web site found. Waiting for reply..." is in the status bar. Once I try clicking on the window a couple of times "(Not Responding)" shows up in the title bar.

I can also replicate the problem by using a program similar to AutoRestart to open PWB whenever it is exited. I then just exit PWB a few times and after a few tries a PWB window will open not responding.

I can not replicate the problem in IE.

Is the working animation still running when the error occurs?

The "throbber" animates for about 20-30 seconds and then stops. The progress bar gets to about 25%

Ok, I think PWB is no longer freezing. I reinstalled the MSI and I think that fixed it. I had just been updating the exe. I didn't think to try reinstalling since the problem was intermittant, but...

Thanks,
