Hi ,
In my library we have about 15 pc's that are locked down and have PWB running as the windows shell, running from a file server location. these are setup with a custom html homepage, that gives our users/patrons access to 2 choices of resource:
the first resource is our CITRIX Remote Application Server, it uses a citrix XenApp browser plugin that works great with PWB. the second choice is access to the students OWA exchange email. all other URL's are blacklisted.
In order for a student/patron to access resources externally they have to be authenticated with the R.A.S server using a login / password. This then allows the user to connect to a R.A.S session allowing to launch a browser of there choice. IE8 or FIREFOX 3.6 .
As soon as the authentication is completed PWB becomes the background window not having any further use until the user/patron logs off the remote R.A.S session.
Now my problem being is that no matter what activity timer I set PWB to restart be it 30min/1hr/1.5hr/2hr/ the end result is always the same..
PWB exits and attempts to restart but becasue the R.A.S seesion may still be open it fails to start and a blank desktop is displayed until a reboot has been performed.. If the user closes there R.A.S session after a warning activity dialog box has flashed up PWB crashes and does not restart.
has anyone got a similar setup and/or a work around
many thanks in advance

many thanks

You would probably be better off using HideGUI or the PWB Secure Mode instead of running PWB as the Windows Shell.we need it to run as windows shell so havent tried that.
Use the Control Panel Internet Options applet. You can add "inetcpl.cpl" as a PWB Shellbar button to run it when PWB is being used as the Windows Shell.can anyone tell me how to add http:// https:// to the local trusted intranet zone when PWB is being run as the windows shell.
