Shell Bar shortcut opens Norton AntiVirus instead of program

I have copied a Windows shortcut into the Shell Bar folder and it appears correctly in PWB 2.04b, but when I click it, Norton AntiVirus begins a scan of the .exe that this shortcut points to. The actual program never opens. I've tried multiple shortcuts for different programs and they all exhibit the same behavior. Any ideas how to bypass Norton and make the correct program launch?

PWB uses a Shell Execute to run the shortcuts. Some older versions of Norton seem to think this is virus like activity and block it. Newer versions of NAV do not exhibit this behavior.

Try updating your NAV client to a newer version.

Never mind

We're using NAV 7.51, and have shell bar links to Editor and Telnet, no problems there.

It's the latest version of NAV 7.6 Corporate.

What do you mean ? File Type is .exe as I described.

Did anyone find an answer to this? We're also currently using 7.51 and are having the same problem with shell buttons. Help?

There must be a setting in NAV that will correct the problem. We are using NAV Corporate 7.61.935 and do not have a problem with the shell buttons. Our client is set by the LAN Adminstrators so I can not tell you what they have set up for use.

Thanks to a library using PWB:

According to Symantec, a registry key needs to be deleted. Here are the steps:

1. Go into regedit.
2. Go into HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
3. Go into the asterick
4. then shellex
5. then ContextMenuHandler
6. delete the folder LDVPMenu
