Clearing information on previously viewed pages

Post by ALD »

We are using the Public Browser at our library for our online cataloging service. We are running into a problem where patrons who, have previously used the machines, records are still visible via the back button. Is there a way to clear the form content of previously viewed paged, i.e. have pages that expire.

We use the clear cache on close in conjunction with restart on close. This resets the browser very well.

We inform patrons to close the browser when finished and have the inactivity timer set fo 15 minutes with exit as the action in case they forget.

Clear Cache

Post by Geo »

Hi,
We use the PWBstop program from downloads(teamsoftwaresolutions.com). We make a shortcut
for this program which we rename "ClearCache"
and put it into the shell folder. We also do the
"restart on close" and set the clear cache options to true.
On our webpage we have a line stating "To remove
sites visited click the ClearCache button on the toolbar.
When this shell button is clicked the browser quickly
restarts and the back button cache is cleared.
