PWB behavior when run as alternative shell
I'm running PWB as the shell on a Windows 7 computer. One problem we're encountering is that when PWB loads our library catalog page, the cursor appears and blinks in the search box but it doesn't have focus. This causes patrons to walk up and start typing, expecting that to appear in the search box but nothing happens. Is there a way for force focus on that field? Or is this a Windows 7 problem, not PWB. Thanks!
Re: PWB behavior when run as alternative shell
Do you have the issue when you do not run PWB as the Shell?
What is the URL of the web page?
You can have the web site set the focus to the box via JavaScript.

Re: PWB behavior when run as alternative shell
Scott,
Sorry - I forgot to follow-up on this and now seeing that it's still happening with the new catalog. The problem doesn't happen with PWB when it's being run on the same computer from the Windows desktop.

What version of Internet Explorer are you using?

Re: PWB behavior when run as alternative shell
Many web sites are having trouble with IE 11, you may want to move back to IE 10.
But it sounds more like an issue when running PWB as the Windows Shell.

Scott,
Yes, the problem is only occurring when running PWB as shell.

Re: PWB behavior when run as alternative shell
Instead of running PWB as the Windows shell, you may want to take a look at Secure Mode.

I'll give that a look.

Re: PWB behavior when run as alternative shell
Scott,
I tried using SecureMode but it's still having this problem. The site works OK when run in IE. Also, staff discovered that after a search of the catalog, the results list can't be scrolled without PWB either freezing up or the list loading in a herky-jerky manner. I'm going to add more RAM to a test PC. But if that doesn't work, I may have to dump PWB in favor of an alternative for our OPACs.

You may also want to check out PWB v3 CEF which is Chrome based instead of IE based.
PWB v3 CEF is currently in its final Beta Testing phase.

Re: PWB behavior when run as alternative shell
Does PWB load the page without issue using an unedited INI file?
Are you running PWB from a network share?
