proxy to be set by 3rd party: can it be done?

Post by a library's IT gopher »

I'm evaluating PWB 2.04 now, and notice that the proxy is manually set in it's .ini file...is it possible for it to always use the proxy that IE is set to use, and in particular will it query this setting each time it's launched?

There's authentication software that we've installed, and based on who walks up to a PC, they may get a different proxy, but the OS-level user won't change, and it doesn't support ID-dependant 'start menus', meaning multiple installs of PWB aren't likely to be real useful.

any suggestions? jshipman at FVRL (dot) org

As long as you leave [Proxy] UseCustom=False, PWB will use whatever proxy IE uses.
