Adobe Reader allows users to open IE

Post by Guest »

In testing I've found that if I open a pdf file in PB2 I can click on the Adobe button (the one that directs you to the Adobe website) and the web site is opened in IE. I'm using Adobe Reader 5.0, IE6.

I've tried setting PB2 as the default browser but this isn't helping. Any suggestions as to how I can stop the Adobe web site from opening in IE? If not, does anyone know if Adobe Reader can be customized to only display the buttons I want it to, in other words can I permanently delete the Adobe button within the reader?

Hi,

You can use the Manage IE browser helper, which will automatically close IE any time it opens. I believe this tool and information on how to install it is available from this website. We have used it at our library with good results.

It doesn't use up extra resources, because it only runs when IE runs.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the quick repsonse. I was starting to think something like your suggestion was going to be the only way around this problem, thanks for the suggestion.

If I find a different solution I'll be sure to post it.
