PWB and Zillow.com

Post by JohnE »

A patron often visits the site www.zillow.com. It has a search function that uses Flash. We use PWB 2.10.0 and IE7.
The problem is, we can enter one address and it will search and find it. Any subsequent searches end up timing out.
It was doing this even after closing PWB and then launching it again. I created a batch file to delete the temporary internet files and the cookies and it will launch one search, then any other searches fail as usual.
There is no problem when running IE7, I can search as many addresses as I want. It is only when I try the search in PWB does this problem continue.

Any help would be appreciated.
If you need any more info, just ask.

Internet Explorer 7 introduces quite a few security features. Try using the PWB_OptIn utility to enable the IE7 security features, or upgrade to PWB v2.10.3 which enables the features internally.

I tried both options and the behavior still exists.
Here's a little more info.
It seems to be tied to the temporary internet files.
I'll start PWB, do one search and it's good. I try a second and it fails. I minimize PWB and open the IE properties where I can delete the temporary internet files. I'll delete them and then maximize PWB. I can run another search and it'll be fine, then if I try a second search it will fail again.
So somehow the temporary internet files are what's causing the problem and how PWB interacts with them seems to be the key.

Thanks again for your info.

We were able to reproduce the problem, and are currently in the process of finding a fix for it.

I posted a new PWB that works with www.zillow.com to the Beta Download page.

http://www.teamsoftwaresolutions.com/beta/PWBv2104.zip

Version 2.10.4 02-12-2008

Fixed/Changed:
Fixed http://www.zillow.com not searching twice by having PWB remove ZillowMap.swf from cache before navigation.

This may not be the most elegant of solutions, but we are waiting to hear from Zillow on a better solution.
