Flash.sys error on a 941gxl Wyse terminal using PWB 2.0.8

Post by ECBolton »

We use Wyse thin clients at our facility for access to a web based indexing application. We recently updated the operating system from Embedded XP sp1 to embedded XP sp2 and changed fromPWB version 2.0.4.4 to 2.0.8.1 Initial testing proved the system to be stable so we deployed it to 7 of our users. The very first day of use we were plagued with problems.

1) If I use VNC to access the thin client and the log off of the thin client, the thin client blue screens with a I/O Flash.sys error about 50% of the time. (The thin clients use Flash as a hard drive.)

2) If I'm using PWB to print a .tiff image through an Acordex java based applet I get this error: Start Doc Error -1 (A strtDocPrinter call was not issued) After a reboot I can usually print. This error happens about 20% of the time. You can see the viewer here http://www.acordex.com/vtj/.

Last night I realized that there was a slightly newer version of PWB and I'm going to test that today.

Also, we are using PWB as the default shell in place of explorer. I set this using the SetPWB application.

Hopefully this is enough information. Anyone have anyhelpful hints?

Thanks,
Eric

Eric,

I would try PWB v2.08.4, however, to rule our a problem with PWB v2.08.1, what happens if you go back to PWB v2.04.4? Does the error persist?

The newsest version of PWB did fix the flash.sys error. For the printing problem I rolled back to Java version 1.3.1.11 and that appears to have resolved that issue.
