Scott has already looked at our ini and offered a few suggestions to try. I thank him very much for it.
It is looking less and less like a PWB problem but I thought I would open this question up to the community (as a last ditch effort) to see if anyone had insight on this problem and help us rule out things (if we rule out PWB then at least we have some idea where to look).
The problem is Gmail webmail. It locks up when trying to open emails. It locks up about 90% of the time with the other 10% working perfectly or locking up in other places.
We have IE 6 underlaying on 50 Windows 2000 systems (no active directory) with most of the latest patches (we missed the last few security patches released). We are using PWB 2.09.2. This happens on all our public computers.
The problem is we just begun allowing our customers to download. As a result we added in three products to assist us. Two are security programs and a third is a cleanup program. We originally had 1st Security Agent (which is a group policy/windows registry front end) and still use it. We added fortres and trust-no-exe as security programs and IE privacy keeper (to clean temp files / cache / web addresses / etc). We are also using a user RPA windows shell called Cybraryn.
We contacted fortres customer support Tuesday but they havent responded yet.
Here is what puzzles us:
With all security on - the problem persists
With all security off - the problem persists
Inside admin account - the problem is partial
With every combination of security we have (one at a time to two at a time to all at once) - the problem persists.
We used PWB 2.08 and gmail locked up at the loading screen no matter what. So we went to 2.09.2 and it worked until trying to open an email.
Using IE it works but with PWB it doesnt. Although Scott said he tested our ini and it worked fine for him.
We are very perplexed at this problem. Not only that but the regular website for gmail locks up but the secure address https doesnt lock up nor does the html version. Because of that there is a few bandaid solutions we could try but we prefer not to go the route of modifiying our host file to redirect.
We are just wondering if it anyone ran into similar problems or anything I may be missing. Gmail itself? Resource conflicts? Memory Problems? Security Software conflicts? PWB? or just a computer gremlin?

Don't know if this helps you but I opened my Gmail using PWB 2.05 and didn't have a problem. I am using my own staff machine running WinXP w/SP2, all patched up. I can go to one of my public pc's running XP but with PWB 2.08 and see what happens, but no one has complained to me yet.
Not only was I able to open an email but I was able to download a file. I know you said Scott checked your .INI file but maybe he overlooked something? (probably not!) I will let you know about my 2.08 situation.

Pat,
I've tested the Gmail app with my version, 2.08 and don't have any trouble opening up any emails or sending/opening attachments. The only problem I am having is PWB doesn't like using their Rich Formatting for typing a message. I have to switch to Plain Text in order to even get a blinking cursor to show in the body message box. Scott, any ideas?

Pat,
Ok I made a boo boo. The initial machine I tested the Gmail on was using 2.05 --oops!. Subsequently I tested Gmail on a different group of machines that were newer and I had put 2.08 on; those had no problems. Guess I'll have to update.
Sorry for the confusion Scott.
