Initial URL.txt Error

Post by James »

I'm running PWB 2.09.3 on Windows XP. I access the INI file and URL.txt from a server. When the local URL.txt file doesn't exist, I get an error when loading PWB:

File not found: C:\Program Files\TeamSoftware Solutions\Public Web Browser v2\URL.txt

After clicking the OK button, PWB will download the URL.txt file and work fine. And it works everytime after since there is now a local URL.txt file.

Is this a bug? How can I get rid of the initial error message? Shouldn't PWB download the file before it checks for a local one?

Here is my command line:

www.seminolecountyfl.gov/lls/library/pachome.html /INI="C:\Program Files\TeamSoftware Solutions\Public Web Browser v2\PWB.INI" /URLINI=http://.../pwb/PWB209.INI /s

Thanks!
James

It looks like your original INI file specifies a URL.txt file, but the one downloaded specifies a web URL.txt file. This would give the message about needing the URL.txt file initially because PWB reads the INI file when it starts, but not afterward because the new INI file tells PWB to download the file.

To avoid the error, either have a blank URL.txt file initially, or specify the Web URL file in the original PWB.INI file.

We are currently reworking how PWB reacts to the web files including the web INI file to handle it gracefully if the web files are unavailable for any reason.

When using web based files, please do not have the files posted in a public accessible area. I edited your original post to remove the path to the INI file which contains your registration information.
